Who can I contact at the IRS that can help?

In keeping with its goal of becoming more customer friendly the IRS has established a toll-free help line for non-profit organizations.   If you have a question you can call: (877) 829-5500 .

You will be connected with a customer service representative at the IRS Cincinnati office (where applications for tax exempt status are processed).  A second line for non-profits is being planned.  The IRS is advising callers that the new toll free exchange (877) may not yet be recognized by some systems, and callers should ask an operator to connect them if they have problems.
