Nonprofit Leader’s Annual Meeting Reveals Positive Growth in 2019 and Significant Sector Impact During COVID Crisis
Wilmington, DE – DANA – the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement, hosted their Annual Meeting of Members, on Wednesday, July 22 via Zoom.
Dominic Canuso, EVP and CFO of WSFS Bank and newly-elected DANA Board Chair, called the meeting to order and thanked outgoing Board members and DANA staff for their efforts throughout 2019. He turned the meeting over to Joanne Reilly, long-time community leader and DANA advocate, who announced the 2020 slate of Directors. New members elected to the DANA Board include:
· Lisa Lucchese, JPMorgan Chase
· Mary Van Veen, DuPont
· Robert Winfree, Discover Financial Services
Current board members who were elected to a second-term are:
· Patti Grimes, Carl M. Freeman Foundation
· Dr. Vita Pickrum, Delaware State University
· Joanne Reilly, Community Leader
Sheila Bravo, CEO of DANA, addressed the DANA member base highlighting successful outcomes from DANA’s strategic plan, as well as an organizational shift towards strengthening its earned income portfolio in 2018 and beyond. Mr. Canuso, detailed the financial health of the organization, noting DANA membership continues to grow at a steady rate. Melissa Hopkins, EVP of Sector Advancement, provided a thorough overview of state and federal policy initiatives. A recap of DANA’s response during the COVID-19 crisis was also given, including efforts of the collaborative formed with Delaware Community Foundation, Philanthropy Delaware, and United Way of Delaware to offer new sources of emergency funding for nonprofits.
For 2020, DANA continues to focus on how it can support nonprofits navigate the pandemic with resources to support nonprofit sustainability practices, including strengthening and diversifying nonprofit boards.
