For Immediate Release
Wilmington, DE – DANA, Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement, has endorsed the Bipartisan Schatz-Murkowski 2020 Census Resolution, in a strong show of support for the upcoming 2020 Census. In addition to numerous Federal legislators, both of Delaware’s Senators are original cosponsors of the resolution.
DANA joins a long list of nationally recognized organizations to also support the Resolution, including the National Council of Nonprofits, Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO), Center for Non-Profits (New Jersey), National Center for Health Research, NAACP, National Coalition for Literacy, Facebook, Twitter, Google, U.S. Conference of Mayors, and National League of Cities, to name a few.
The bipartisan resolution holds special significance because it “recognizes the importance of the upcoming 2020 Census and encourages individuals, families, and households across the United States to participate in the 2020 Census to ensure a complete and accurate count,” according to U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI). Additionally, the constitutionally mandated effort designates more than $800 Billion in federal funding out to the states and their local communities.
DANA, under the leadership of CEO, Sheila Bravo, is rallying nonprofits and faith-based organizations throughout the state to collaborate and contribute toward reaching the “hard-tocount” populations, encouraging them to participate. For nonprofits, an accurate CENSUS 2020 count is vital because federal funding for many of their programs is dictated by the number of citizens residing within the state.
