Trainings for Nonprofit Leaders available in Sussex County in March Collective Impact Training and Executive Director Networking Featured

Georgetown, DE – The Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA) has launched its Spring Semester of nonprofit trainings across the state, and March’s events are expected to set the bar high.

These courses were made possible thanks to a generous grant from Discover Bank.

In the 2015 report from the Grantmakers for Effective Organizations “Leveraging Social Sector Leadership” a survey of CEOs of nonprofits ranked collaboration skills as a top priority for social sector leadership for the next 5-10 years. The report said, “The best social sector leaders nurture the growth of external partner organizations, based on recognition that no one actor can solve a big problem alone.”

DANA has incorporated this into collaboration training for Delaware nonprofits.

The Multiplier Effect for Improved Outcomes will be held on Thursday, March 24 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Delaware Community Foundation building in Georgetown. Participants will learn the collective impact approach to address social problems. Instructor Peggy Geisler will also lead them through gaining an understanding of the role they, and their organizations, can play in creating and fostering improved outcomes collectively within a community. The cost to attend starts at $40 for DANA members.

DANA’s new Executive Director to Executive Director (E2E) Peer Networking Session is in its second month. Executive Directors will be hosted on Friday, April 1 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Delaware Community Foundation building in Georgetown. These closed-door sessions allow participants to learn best practices on topics unique to their role, as well as discuss challenges and opportunities they face in their leadership. The cost is only $10 to attend.

“I’ve heard that all strong leaders focus on nurturing their networks, but the best social sector leaders are motivated by their missions of their organizations to make networking a top priority,” said Bravo.

“Nonprofit executives have been asking for opportunities to get together with their peers longer than I have been in my role, and we’re glad to see these sessions starting off so well.”
