MILFORD, Del. – Do More 24, Delaware’s first community day of giving, kicked off in Milford on Thursday.

The 24 hour online fundraising campaign gives community members the ability to donate to nonprofits of their choice in the state of Delaware.

John Moore of United Way Delaware says that this day – June 2nd, 2016, gives an opportunity for people who may not normally give, the chance to donate to a variety of nonprofits across the first state. Moore adds that it will allow people to follow the passions of what they believe in.

The day also gives the opportunity for lesser known non-profits to get their cause out on a platform they wouldn’t normally have. The day will feature all of the nonprofits participating in one place online. Peggy Geisler, the Executive Director for the Sussex County Health Coalition, says both big and small nonprofits are all on equal footing on June 2nd.

Sheila Bravo, President and CEO of DANA, the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement stresses the reach of nonprofits across Delaware. Bravo says that every single person in Delaware benefits from the work of a nonprofit, whether it be from a walk in the park to someone who needs cancer support, it enriches all of the community members’ lives.

The information event in Milford is just the first step to getting more non-profits on board, and now they’re asking everyone who attended to spread the word on social media through the hashtag DoMore24DE. Information on the event can be found at https://domore24delaware.com/

The deadline for eligible nonprofits to register is May 23rd.
