Customized Training and Consulting
DANA helps nonprofits connect with experts through a range of education, networking, coaching, and consulting services to help nonprofit boards, leaders, and staff navigate governance, organizational dynamics, strategy, policy issues, and more.
Assessments can be a powerful tool to identify areas that need further discussion and/or strengthening. DANA provides access to these tools, which includes ones that we have created as well as ones that we have found to be reliable.
Consulting & Coaching
As social impact businesses, nonprofit boards and leaders are balancing the delivery of their mission with the realities of operations and costs. DANA has brought together experienced professional consultants with expertise in a range of business and organizational topics. Typical engagements include:
- Board governance training and coaching
- Board and Team retreat facilitation
- Client/Market Research
- Strategic Planning facilitation
- Fund development strategy
- Financial Management
- Leadership coaching
- Succession Planning
- Advocacy & Public Policy Strategy
- Outcome Evaluation
Consulting and coaching engagements can range from a three-hour retreat to full-year coaching support. DANA monitors the cost of consulting services and sets its consulting rates at below-market rates. These standard fees are then discounted for DANA members based on the size of their organizational budget. We have also been successful at partnering with our Alliance Partners to receive grants to help further reduce the fees.

Apply to earn the Seal of Excellence through a special agreement with the Standards for Excellence Institute. The accreditation program provides nonprofits in Delaware and across the country with the opportunity to demonstrate that they operate with the highest standards of accountability and ethics. It is an ideal way for nonprofits who do not have access to a trade accreditation to exhibit their high operational standards.
National nonprofit directories such as Guidestar will feature this accreditation on the nonprofit’s profile page. A recent study of nonprofits who applied and secured the Standards for Excellence Seal realized an increase in public funding support.
