As January ends, and the General Assembly goes out on Joint Finance Committee break, advocacy work is just getting under way.
Following up on the Governor’s State of the State, Governor Carney presented his Recommended Budget for FY19 on January 25th. Of note is a recommendation of a 10% reinstatement of Grant-in-Aid funding. This is progress toward a reinstating the investment into our state’s nonprofit sector. Advocacy for expanded investment into Delaware’s nonprofit sector is critical as the bill moves to the JFC for consideration. A list of Joint Finance Committee members and the schedule of agency hearings may be found here.
HCR 61, requesting that the Joint Finance Committee prioritize the restoration of Grant-in-Aid funds in FY 2019 to the FY 2017 appropriation amount was introduced by Representative Postles. This support for the nonprofit sector an excellent step. If you have comments or questions please email Melissa Hopkins at [email protected].
