DANA Receives Mid-Del Grant to Strengthen Nonprofit Boards in Southern Delaware

WILMINGTON – DANA, the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement, has received grant funding to bolster southern Delaware nonprofits by strengthening their boards of directors.

The Mid-Del Charitable Foundation has awarded DANA a $1,000 grant to recruit and match community-based leaders from Kent and Sussex counties with local nonprofits through DANA’s Board Connections program.

Board Connections matches community professionals with DANA nonprofit members seeking board members based on skills, interests and values, helping to diversify boards and provide leadership opportunities to individuals who wish to serve their community. Under the program, participants receive training to prepare them for board service and nonprofit leadership.

“DANA’s Board Connections program has been extremely successful at connecting nonprofit members with community leaders whose values align with their mission,” said DANA President & CEO Sheila Bravo. “In doing so, we have broadened the pool of people who serve in these positions, increasing diversity and bringing fresh, new perspectives to these organizations.

“This grant from Mid-Del will enable DANA to expand these efforts to strengthen nonprofit boards in Kent and Sussex counties. We’re grateful to Mid-Del for this commitment to charitable organizations.”

In addition to the matching process, the Board Connections program offers board fundamentals training, certification, support and ongoing mentorship. The Mid-Del grant will help offset participation costs for select nonprofit members in southern Delaware, enabling more organizations to access high-quality board development resources.
