WILMINGTON – In response to Governor Meyer’s fiscal 2026 budget reset presentation on Thursday, Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA) President and CEO Sheila Bravo issued the following statement:
“Governor Meyer’s fiscal 2026 budget reset acknowledged some of the biggest challenges facing our state and the nonprofit sector: the unpredictability of the federal government’s actions and the impact that potential funding reductions could have. We are heartened that the Meyer Administration is prioritizing this issue and proposing forward-thinking action to increase Grant-in-Aid funding by 3 percent and create a federal contingency fund to offset some of these possible reductions.
“DANA has heard from numerous nonprofit organizations about how federal funding cuts could severely hamper their ability to provide critical services to residents, such as meals to seniors, counseling to people facing mental health and substance use issues, shelter and support to the unhoused, and assistance for sexual assault survivors. By bolstering state resources, Delaware hopefully can blunt that impact and help nonprofits continue providing vital assistance to at-risk and vulnerable populations.”
